This piece combines the crystalline clarity of K9 glass with a traditional lacquer technique practiced for more than 8,000 years. Through its geometric pattern, it explores rhythm in everyday drinkware and opens new possibilities for the ritual of drinking.

Craft

The body is first shaped from SGS-certified, lead-free K9 crystal glass using cold-cutting techniques, then carefully engraved with lines. The lacquering process is highly variable. Any unevenness or exposed area must be redone. After drying, excess lacquer is removed to ensure that each line appears crisp and vivid. Dozens of steps are completed largely by hand, demanding both precision and the practiced judgement of the makers.

Each piece is individually hand-cut. Subtle variations in size, shape, weight, and thickness are normal.

Design

The design heightens the sensory experience of drinking. To the touch, glass and lacquer offer two distinct sensations. Their contrast recalls the plucking of strings, as if musical notes were sounding close to the ear. As the glass turns, the lines shift with it, creating a changing rhythm of light and shadow.

Keep away from direct sunlight.

Do not place in dishwashers, dish dryers, or sterilizer cabinets.

Do not soak, which may cause the lacquer to fall off.

Do not use if damaged or cracked.

Fragile! Handle with care. Avoid shock, pressure, or impact.

For carrying liquids below 60°C / 140°F. Avoid sudden temperature changes.

Hand wash after use. Place a rubber mat or thick towel in the sink for extra protection. Avoid using abrasive cleaners such as scouring pads or steel wool.
