Three of Cups

Three little moths gather to enjoy the warm lamplight, as if sheltering from the rain. The rain hints at difficulty and hardship in the outside world. For them, this is a brief moment of gathering and a chance to rest and catch their breath. Perhaps they are also one another’s safe harbor.
In truth, moths are not truly drawn to light but are disoriented by artificial light interfering with their navigation. People may be the same, influenced by external relationships or interests that distract them from their true intentions. Although this card appears to show a “gathering” and mutual relaxation, it may also point to “exchange of interests,” surface-level socializing, or even indulgent companionship such as drinking buddies.

UPRIGHT

Temporary comfort, pausing thought, ease, small groups, sharing experiences, friendship, emotional and interest-based exchange, gaining something.

REVERSED

Broken plans, surface-level relationships, unfulfilled expectations, rupture, being misled, overindulgence, hidden connections, emptiness.
