Five little pigeons scramble for the food in your hand. This is a small, familiar kind of scuffle for them, something they have plenty of experience with. To them, it is simply part of their daily routine. If they fail to snatch the food from you, they will simply shift their attention elsewhere.
This is light competition with little consequence. Even if they do not get food from you, they will not go hungry since other caretakers will come to feed them. In their eyes, this may even be a form of daily amusement.
