The High Priestess
This beam of light shines within your subconscious, and the reflection in the water is your unconscious. The calm surface represents her composure; only when yin and yang merge can the moon be formed. The radiance cuts through the long polar night, symbolizing the light within your own heart.
One gives birth to two, two gives birth to three, and three gives birth to all things. If the Magician represents the soul and the Empress represents the body, then here the High Priestess builds a bridge leading toward three the material world which is the spiritual consciousness. The branches will bloom and bear fruit when they reach the Empress. The aurora is also a spiritual symbol in many cultures, called Aurorae in Latin, the dance of light. Its reflection on the water signifies intuition shining within consciousness. Her calmness and inner insight allow her to understand her own inner needs. We must find that sense of stillness and hope in nature and in our hearts.
UPRIGHT
At this time, trust your intuition and your ability to perceive people and situations. It is not suitable for pushing limits or socializing. Sit quietly to meditate, read, or listen to music, all of which bring growth and inner practice. Instead of putting yourself in others’ shoes, it is better now to observe the bigger picture with calm analysis. When facing conflicts, you may appear detached. When upright appears, it may help to write down your thoughts as a guide for future self reflection.
