13. Death
We celebrate life, and we should also face death calmly. What is life in the face of death? When death arrives, life, like a flower in bloom, slowly withers into a bare branch, only to become a new seed under the rising sun of another realm...Death is lonely—without anyone to love or to be loved by. And yet, death is gentle. Life flows through her fingertips. In front of her lies a land full of vitality, while behind her flows the shadowy river of the underworld. She is the guide between life and death, a guardian of the cycle.
In this image, the gentle figure of Death represents the coexistence of death and rebirth. Nothing truly disappears, and nothing is eternal. All things merely transform into new forms or new ways of “being.”
