The Hanged Man

He hangs suspended, falling toward the earth, like a martyr, using his last strength to tear open his chest and feed his still-beating heart to the circling vultures — messengers of death drawn to the decaying body. He sacrifices flesh to indulge all beings. Unable to act, yet unwilling to fall, he cuts away his body and sends his spirit to the peak.

I have not assigned him a specific gender — The Hanged Man is more like a vessel for the spirit. The physical form is never the point; the awakening within is the core. When life completely escapes control, The Hanged Man gives up the struggle with fate. He surrenders and, even in the pain, he gains clear insight and new understanding through his sacrifice and endurance.

The Hanged Man represents surrender, insight, and spiritual awakening through stillness. He teaches that letting go can reveal new perspectives and higher understanding.
