The Hanged Man
Element: Water
The design of The Hanged Man was inspired by a scene from the musical The Hunchback of Notre Dame, where performers hang upside down like ringing bells. Naturally, I chose to portray Quasimodo, the bell ringer, as the Hanged Man. Quasimodo and the Hanged Man share a striking resemblance — born with deformities and an unfortunate appearance, Quasimodo survives through submission and endurance. The appearance of Esmeralda becomes a beacon of hope in his life. He is willing to sacrifice himself for love, just to protect the one he adores.
This is why the Hanged Man is often shown with a halo above his head — symbolizing spiritual awakening and wisdom. Heroes are often depicted with halos, and every act of sacrifice is ultimately for the sake of something greater, bringing enlightenment and higher understanding.
