My first encounter with Osaian began with a flash of silver light that vanished in an instant within the rapids. He gazed gently at the shifting brightness on the sea’s surface, his silver curls drifting in the undercurrent like satin. He sat upright on the back of an emerald sea horse, and the water parted to either side along the path of his advance. He is a practitioner of water energy, and also a poet of the ocean. I followed the direction of his gaze and saw pods of dolphins breaking through the waves, while schools of fish with dazzling scale-light swirled and darted around, composing an improvised chapter of ocean music.
