The Hermit
Upright
Enjoying solitude / Full of wisdom
Reversed
Overthinking / Being concerned about others' opinions
I’ve always believed that if snakes were anthropomorphized, they would become wise and mysterious hermits, dwelling alone in the deep mountains. This image perfectly aligns with the essence of The Hermit card. As such, the card features a snake-like sage dressed in a robe, holding a lantern.
When The Fool encounters The Hermit, the latter senses the confusion in The Fool’s heart. Raising the lantern, The Hermit seeks to light the way forward. Bathed in its glow, the surrounding environment begins to flow like a river—symbolizing that the path ahead is still filled with uncertainty and countless choices.
