Strange Plant – White-Shadow Slumber Butterfly
The White-Shadow Slumber Butterfly is a rare flowering plant whose delicate white blossoms release an enchanting fragrance. This scent is not overpowering, but gently magical, drawing one into a soft, dreamlike sleep. Its effect is soothing rather than overwhelming—like drifting into dreams wrapped in tranquility. This unique quality makes it especially alluring to the “Cat-Moth Owl,” the only spirit capable of approaching it safely while in bloom.
The Trap of the White-Shadow:
Though seemingly gentle, the plant hides a predatory nature. Its creeping vines act as slow-moving capture organs, making it a carnivorous plant. Fortunately, due to its small size and sluggish growth, it poses no threat to larger creatures. Still, its hypnotic fragrance can be dangerous in the wild—lest an unwary traveler fall asleep nearby.
Cat-Moth Owl:
This small spirit, considered the guardian of the White-Shadow, is uniquely immune to its soporific pollen. Active at night and resting by day, Cat-Moth Owls nest among its blossoms to remain undisturbed. What may appear as a perilous trap for other small creatures becomes a safe cradle for these owls, a testament to the intricate balance between strange plants and the spirits that dwell among them.
