It feels as if we all grew up in an instant. While learning to stand on your own, bumps and bruises are unavoidable. Out in the world, you appear strong and reliable, yet at home you quietly tend to your wounds. The next morning you put on a neat suit, pull on those hastily chosen bear socks, and return to the rush of commuting life.

This card carries the feeling of “forced maturity.” The person may be young, but their mental and emotional age far exceeds their peers. Yet in small details, they remain a “child.” This usually happens when someone entered society early, lacked strong support from their upbringing, or experienced significant upheaval. Because they had to learn many things alone — things others were taught — they now treasure what they have all the more.

UPRIGHT

Steady, eager to learn, stable, limited support from family of origin, willing to take responsibility, sincere, mindful of social position, early-stage collaboration.

REVERSED

Easily envious, hard to restrain impulses, wanting rest but unable to, exhaustion, telling obvious lies, difficult to earn others’ trust, loss or leakage.
