A kite drifts through the sky, able to see a bigger, wider world — yet it is held, controlled, unable to experience true independence or freedom. Its height and view are determined by the one holding the string. Perhaps it longs to become a real bird, soaring across its own vast sky.
A kite needs both wind and someone to launch it. It appears free, yet it is full of limitations. Because it has seen more, its “perspective” is indeed elevated. The black-purple mallow symbolizes conflict and hesitation. The butterfly motif on the kite symbolizes independence and spiritual freedom — though it is not truly a butterfly. The peony wings represent prosperity and beauty, and the pattern known as “Butterfly Seeking Blossoms” expresses longing, hope, and visions of the future.
