Ten of Swords

Upright: the end of past suffering, hope is near, regaining passion for life and the future after hardship.

Reversed: the pain has lessened and disaster narrowly avoided, temporary relief from problems, a need to seize the moment and make decisions before troubles return.

The Ten of Swords often carries very negative connotations — nearly every unpleasant word imaginable can describe its meaning. It marks the lowest point in life’s journey. Yet, as the crows rise and take flight beside the fallen girl, they signal that this darkest, most painful period is coming to an end, and new light is about to break through.

This card can indicate the loss of a job, the end of a relationship, or feeling completely crushed by life’s burdens. Both physically and mentally, exhaustion and chaos take hold. But once something has ended, acceptance allows new beginnings to emerge. Like the girl in the image whose spirit is reborn and blooming, this ending carries within it the quiet promise of renewal.
