Eight of Swords
Reversed: courage to face and see the truth before acting, regaining freedom, inner awakening, release from oppression.
The girl’s eyes are blindfolded with gauze and her hands are bound, trapped within a square formed by crossed swords. She appears helpless and distressed, unaware that a light of hope glows just behind her. Her hands are not completely tied, and there’s even a small opening — though narrow, it could be the key to freedom. Yet she never considers it. Fear prevents her from facing reality, and thus she remains confined. The limitations symbolized by the Eight of Swords are not always external — more often, they are self-imposed boundaries.
The true obstacle lies in the cloth that blinds her eyes. Ignorance of her surroundings breeds fear and confusion, paralyzing her will to move forward. The moment she removes the blindfold and dares to take the first step, she will find that the way out has always been there.
