Equality

“For the universe, a human life is no more important than that of an oyster.”
— David Hume

The tide surges, dividing the scene in half along with the girl. An oyster drifts to her hand with the tide, and she gently holds it up. Every small life deserves to be cherished, doesn’t it? Because in the vast universe, we ourselves are small lives.
Once, I was lost in the smallness of humankind — we long so desperately for meaning and value, yet absurdly exist in a universe that is indifferent. But now I think: perhaps this is not so bad. If I were more important than an oyster, then what about the oyster?
This card describes equality — an absolute equality from a macro perspective: equality of rich and poor, of humans and plants. It may feel impersonal and unrealistic, but sometimes all we long for is simply equality. This card also reminds you: if you are the one in the higher position within a relationship, show compassion for the weaker side.

Keywords: Absolute equality, impersonal, compassion

Reversed Keywords: Humanized, relative equality, inequality, arrogance
