Seven of Swords
Element: Air
The design of the Seven of Swords draws inspiration from a famous scene in the Chinese classic Romance of the Three Kingdoms—Cao Cao Presents the Sword. During the chaotic decline of the Han Dynasty, the tyrant Dong Zhuo seized power and abused his authority. In an attempt to assassinate him, Cao Cao borrowed the treasured Seven-Star Sword and entered the prime minister’s residence under the pretense of presenting a gift. Dong Zhuo caught a glimpse of Cao Cao’s movement in a bronze mirror, but Cao Cao quickly claimed he had come to offer the sword. This clever ruse allowed him to escape unharmed. The scene mirrors the theme of the Rider-Waite Seven of Swords, which encourages strategic thinking and the courage to seek unconventional solutions.
