Five of Cups
Element: Water
The design of this card is once again inspired by The Phantom of the Opera. In his underground palace by the lake, the Phantom gazes into a mirror. Upon removing his mask, his deformed face is revealed. Saddened by his inability to win Christine’s love, he sheds a tear. In the mirror, his reflection holds a rose—its petals wilting—intensifying the mood of sorrow.
When the Five of Cups appears, as mentioned in previous discussions, it’s important to note that although three cups have fallen, two still remain upright. Beyond romantic love, there are also family and friends—those who still love and support us.
