The Hermit

Element: Fire
The design of The Hermit card, number 9, is inspired by Master Ji Xianlin, a renowned scholar and cultural authority in China. He was a lifelong professor at Peking University, chairman of the Academic Committee of the Chinese Culture Institute, and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Fluent in 12 languages, his translation of Tocharian is a rare expertise, with only a handful of people in the world who understand it today. He was also a cat lover, and on his desk, in addition to books and manuscripts, there was often an adorable white cat. Much like a hermit, Ji Xianlin served as a mentor in life, guiding us toward spiritual growth. The light of the hexagram (Star of David) symbolizes wisdom, reminding us that, more often than not, self-reflection and solitude awaken the inner self, helping us grow and move to the next level.
