Six of Cups

Element: Water
The design of this card builds upon the original Rider–Waite concept of a boy caring for a younger girl and offering her a cup. The entire image is infused with a festive Christmas atmosphere, evoking a deep sense of love and warmth. The Christmas tree is adorned with gifts, and a towering cake stand displays two gingerbread siblings, each holding a cup. The older brother is preparing desserts for his sister; the table is full of donuts and afternoon tea treats. As he hands her a cup, the gesture is filled with care and affection.
When the Six of Cups appears, it often relates to childhood memories and a sense of innocence and joy—like the simple happiness that comes from enjoying cake and coffee. After the sorrow of the Five of Cups, we may need to revisit the past to rediscover ourselves in order to move forward. Reflecting on past experiences can bring inspiration and renewal. Sometimes this card also reminds us to be generous and giving like the boy. If you hold onto resentment, it may be time to forgive in order to find true harmony.
