Card Meaning

The Nightfire Charge speaks of an impulse like an arrow already on the string, the unquenchable fire of the expedition, and the instinct to put action above all else. The flame has only just been lit, and it is spreading outward with all the passion it has. You do not weigh the risks along the way or count the chances of failure; you know only that you must go, must act, must arrive. The meaning of life lies in “being on the road,” not in “arriving.”

Sometimes the meaning of life lies not in arriving, but in being forever on the road. What has burned, even if it turns to ash, is closer to the sun than wood that has never caught fire.

• Study: Curious about unknown fields — it’s worth taking a look.

Reversed

• Core Issue: Charging headfirst until you’re battered and bleeding; your passion spent, you go around in circles.
• Love: An impulsive confession scares the other person away; easy come, easy go.
• Career: Launching without enough preparation, and soon giving up.
• Money & Social Life: Impulsive investments that lose everything; friendships that heat up fast and cool just as fast; after a setback, you retreat completely into your shell.
