Six of Cups

The seawater wiped away the beach’s tear marks, and I fell into a heavy sleep to the sound of the tide. Warm tangerine light wove itself into a childhood blanket, and I felt as if I had returned home. A soft pillow gently cradled my head. A worn plush bear leaned beside me. Half-finished building blocks formed my little shelter from the wind, and from inside came the sweet scent of steamed cake. Returning home is everyone’s dream core. That door seems to never open, but this time, Mom pushed it open and came in, giving me a hug.
