My first encounter with Fleigar was on a horizon where the yellow wind howled. In his eyes burned an expedition’s ambition, like flame. The wind stirred his red hair, and the fire-feather insignia on his chest seemed like his beating heart. He rode atop a pale-blue-flame warhorse, its mane tempered into blue-white fire. Hooves raised high, it leapt through the air over a cluster of rising flame-flowers. He is a practitioner of fire energy, a pioneer of lands still unreached. I followed the direction of his gaze and saw, at the end of the scorched earth, the outline of a golden city wavering in the heat haze. What scorched in his eyes was the resolve to conquer that city, and a blazing desire to measure the roads unknown. Behind him, the flame-flowers burned in silence, like crimson flags planted in the wilderness.
