The Devil
Upright:
Surrender to desire, indulgence in temptation
Reversed:
Letting go of dependence, rejecting temptation
Dazzling flowers confuse the eyes, a golden pool disturbs the heart. The Devil card represents being controlled by your own desires, hinting at mistaken beliefs such as: “I have no choice,” “I can only do this,” or “As long as I have money, I have everything.” These are merely “reasonable” justifications that appear after actions driven by desire, but in truth, they show you are nothing more than a puppet of your cravings.
The Devil binds the spirit dragons with chains. No matter how they struggle, they cannot break free. Under the Devil’s control, matters worsen—and once freed, it is uncertain whether they might themselves become the next “Devil.”
