Knight of Swords

Decisiveness · Breakthrough · Aggression · Conflict

The most combative of the four knights, the Knight of Swords embodies the cutting edge of the air element—sharp, fast, and mentally driven. While the Knight of Wands charges forward with physical speed, this Knight moves even faster in thought, wielding logic and ideas like weapons.

The hilt of his sword bears a butterfly—symbol of the Swords suit—representing a free and untamed intellect. Above him fly five scattered birds: five, a number of conflict; birds, symbols of message and movement. Together, they suggest the mental turbulence this Knight often ushers in—disruption, sudden decisions, verbal confrontation.

(Trivia ②): As with the Knight of Cups (see Trivia ①), comparing the four horses in the tarot leads to a deeper insight. Their different colors echo the imagery of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
