Ace of Cups

Beginning · Love · Purity · Feeling

The cup depicted here is the Holy Grail—the one Jesus used during the Last Supper, and which later held his blood after the crucifixion. The white dove, a symbol of the Holy Spirit in Catholicism, carries the Eucharistic wafer, representing Christ’s body. As it descends toward the cup, it signifies resurrection—the soul entering the material world.

Twenty-seven drops of water fall from the cup, referencing Matthew Chapter 27—the chapter before Jesus’ resurrection in Chapter 28. This, together with the dove and host, creates a dual symbolic depiction: one of sacrifice, and one of divine renewal.
