Death
Some believe that the rose held by Death represents the Rosicrucian Order. I personally disagree and do not adopt this interpretation. In my view, Death’s rose is a spiritual symbol rather than a reference to any specific group—the former is pure, while the latter is mixed. Therefore, the skeletal hand offering a blooming rose highlights the purity of the rose.
Connecting the white dots in the lower left forms the constellation of Scorpio.
The falling petals symbolize the cycle of life and death—once a flower blooms, it begins to die. So, when Death arrives, might it also be the beginning of something new?
A sun is lightly depicted in the bottom right corner with low opacity. First, this preserves the overall visual purity of the card; second, it implies that when Death arrives, most people fail to notice that dawn is also near.
