Nine of Wands

Dish: Bobo Chicken

The Nine of Wands is the person who chooses to stand even after being ground down by life. He’s gone through eight collisions, been hurt, and cried, but he still grips that last wand and watches the distance. In the bowl of Bobo Chicken, eight skewers are already inserted, like past battles or old scars. And that ninth one—standing alone and slanted outside the bowl, the red oil not yet dry, still dripping. It hasn't been recruited into the bowl, it’s not in the array, but it’s the most vivid, the spiciest, and the most memorable. This isn't a "light" card, nor is it a light dish. The spice isn't there to please the taste buds; it’s there to wake up your defenses. Eating skewer by skewer until the ninth, the palate is exhausted, but you still take a bite. Just like that wounded soldier in the Tarot, covered in bandages but not backing down an inch. Hold your ground, and hold onto yourself. The Nine of Wands teaches us: not all persistence is gentle. Some resilience comes with scars. The ninth skewer of Bobo Chicken isn't in the bowl because it’s telling you: I’m still here, I haven't fallen yet.
