Nine of Wands

Vision

A soldier with wounded eyes grips a staff. The insecurity brought by blindness keeps him vigilant of his surroundings. Unbeknownst to him, the war has long ended, and the enemies of yesteryears have withered away into bones at his feet. The spring breeze has healed the scars of the war. Only he is forgotten in the harsh winter of sword and bloodshed.

Message

This card harbors grave sadness in my mind. In the original Rider-Waite depiction, I see an injured and weary person standing still, not knowing what to do with the fire in their chest. There is neither room for it to burn freely nor rain to quench this unwarranted calamity. Consequently, the fire keeps consuming them and harming anyone who comes near.
