Ceramic artist Xinyu Liu created this series of baby-spirit porcelain wares, hoping to weave a porcelain fantasy with their lovely, grotesque images.

Most of her creations use jade clay (玉泥), the highest-purity kind of porcelain clay known as “China White” to the West. Blending vintage flair with modern aesthetics, they preserve the quintessence of oriental beauty while transforming it into animated designs.

Just like you and me, these “porcelain babies” may be fragile and emotional – but they always say yes to a hug.
