Card Meaning
The Final Repose speaks of an ending at rock bottom, letting go after a heavy burden, and the stillness before dawn. It is not a sudden destruction, but the final moment after a long endurance. Ten swords are driven into the spine, each one a loss, a price paid, a farewell with no turning back. Struck down, but not dead; the hands have let go, and the heart has surrendered. The lake is still, dawn is near — everything has ended, and everything is about to begin.
Only when you have been completely struck down, with no strength left to struggle, can true surrender and rebirth become possible. The ten swords are pain at its most extreme, but the light in the distance says the pain has reached its end.
